Soundtrack of the Plastic Age
A rubbish dump on stage and plastic waste used as instruments. In Soundtrack of the Plastic Age, drummer and composer Rogier de Nijs takes you into a surreal world in which discarded materials come to life.
Amid an impressive set constructed from plastic waste, percussionists play a wide range of self-built instruments. Driving rhythms, surprising sounds and striking video projections merge into an immersive audiovisual experience.
The performance is inspired by the Plasticene: the era in which plastic is leaving its mark all over the planet. During a musical journey through different locations around the world, you are taken past the visible consequences of our consumer society. Through the use of video projections, an impressive overall picture emerges in which music, imagery and contemporary issues come together.
With energetic percussion compositions, rich soundscapes and a great deal of imagination, Rogier de Nijs demonstrates that even materials that seem to have lost their value can be transformed into something new and remarkable.
Soundtrack of the Plastic Age is a performance that amazes, confronts and inspires.
This performance has no interval.
