Strau$$
That there is only a small step between the waltz-intoxicated Duidu, Duidu and the relaxed Dudidubidu is something the gentlemen of Mnozil Brass have known for a long time. For more than thirty years, these seven virtuoso brass players have moved effortlessly between Johann Strauss and Frank Sinatra, between Shostakovich and Prince, and just as easily from Schubert to their musical kindred spirits in Queen.
For Mnozil Brass, there are no boundaries between high and low art. The elevated status of the classical repertoire interests them just as little as the supposed lightness of popular music. And it is precisely in this respect that they see Johann Strauss as their great role model.
Strauss was far ahead of his time. He wrote hit after hit, worked with arrangers to speed up production, and, together with his brothers, built a recognisable sound that conquered the world. As the ‘Waltz King’, he was unrivalled in his ability to bring classical and popular music together, becoming a true mass-market icon.
In Strau$$, Mnozil Brass lays Strauss completely bare. With their trademark blend of musical mastery, humour, surprising arrangements and irresistible stage presence, they reveal everything there is to tell about the famous composer.
And in the end, only one thing remains: the naked truth
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
