One day, when the wind once again blows through her thoughts, she flees to the attic. An old, dusty place full of boxes and yellowed photographs, where the scent of long ago still lingers. Suddenly, Novi sees two mysterious figures appear, fighting, roaring. When they notice her, they disappear into a photo album. Novi follows them. What will she find there?

In Kakek, Opa & Ik, Novi sets out in search of the hidden stories of her family. Through old photo albums, letters and forgotten melodies, she travels back in time. The past slowly comes to life as the journey takes on a magical edge and Novi makes exciting discoveries about her family history. The colonial past of the Netherlands and Indonesia still lives on in the present. And perhaps the anger Novi feels is older than she is herself.

Kakek, Opa & Ik is a performance about emotions that can travel, from heart to heart and from generation to generation. A journey through time for the whole family.
