Viko and Thor happily build away in their workshop full of wood. While singing, they create the most beautiful wooden objects. But then there is a piece of wood that does not fit in. It belongs nowhere, is not part of a bigger whole. That cannot be right, can it? Such a beautiful, rough piece of wood — how strange.

Perhaps music can help them discover where the little piece of wood comes from. Viko and Thor set out on a search. To the rhythm of sawing, chopping, sanding and planing, they travel through wood shavings and splinters in a wooden forest. Will they be able to bring the piece of wood back home?

Houtje is about dreams made of wood, daring to get lost and discovering new things. At the intersection of theatre, music and woodworking, Het Ministerie van Onverrichter Zake takes you on an adventurous journey.
