De Lente in met Lucie Horsch

Lucie Horsch is known for her sparkling playing and boundless musical curiosity. With her recorder she breaks through comfort zones and conquers the world of classical music at great speed. Whether it is baroque or an exciting crossover adventure, she takes you along effortlessly. In doing so, she continues the tradition of giants such as Frans Brüggen. The jury of the 2020 Dutch Music Prize was full of praise: “With Lucie Horsch you see a rare unity between musician and instrument.”

Philzuid ushers in spring with this programme – a season full of new life and whistling birds. From Handel’s Acis and Galatea to the sparkling Il Gardellino by Vivaldi and the enchanting sounds of Boulanger. Contemporary music also has its place with Erkki‑Sven Tüür’s Whistles and Whispers from Uluru, a work full of subtle rhythms and tone colours.

And then there is Mozart’s Jupiter Symphony: grand, brilliant and compelling. This special concert also marks the debut of the talented conductor Vitali Alekseenok with Philzuid. He is head of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and artistic director of the Kharkiv Music Festival in Ukraine, which organised concerts in shelters and metro stations during the war.
