The BJPO consists of young, talented musicians from across North Brabant who come together anew for each project. Under the direction of artistic leader and conductor Johan Smeulders, they are once again pushing the boundaries of the traditional wind orchestra. The characteristic rhythms and tonal colours of the Balkans demand everything from the orchestra while at the same time creating music full of energy, tension and temperament.

For Balkan Moods, the orchestra, which for the first time consists of more than 100 musicians, will also perform with a special line-up. Alongside an extensive wind section, distinctive percussion instruments such as the darbuka, davul, tef, bendir and semantron will be featured.

After months of rehearsals, everything comes together on 12 December in Concertzaal Tilburg. Expect an evening filled with youthful musical energy, surprising sounds and the irresistible rhythms of the Balkans.
