Laat me niet alleen

Verkoop v.a. 23 May 12:00 uur
The greatest chansonnier of all time is not French. He is a Belgian from Flanders who sang in French. A man from Schaarbeek, who left home behind to achieve worldwide fame in Paris. For Rob Kemps, it is crystal clear: Jacques Brel is the greatest of them all.

Rob Kemps dives into the life and music of Jacques Brel. In Laat me niet alleen, you follow Brel from Schaarbeek to Paris, via Berlin, Moscow and New York, all the way to Hiva Oa, the island where he found his final resting place. You get to know Brel, you feel Rob’s admiration, and you see how their lives sometimes unexpectedly come close together.

With as much humour as emotion, Rob tells the story of the music—and above all, the life—of his hero. And in doing so, also about his own life. Rob cannot help it. Because a life without Brel is no life at all.

Rob Kemps is an entertainer and writer, known from Snollebollekes and the television programme Chansons!. His fascination with the Père‑Lachaise cemetery led to the successful theatre show Hemel op aarde, in which he guides audiences through stories rich in history and personal memories. That left him wanting more—so he returns with his new show Laat me niet alleen.
