Oersoep
What would you do if you were bringing new life into a dying world? After giving birth, this question sets her in motion. She leaves the safety of her home and ventures out into the world, searching for connection. She moves through experiences of love, sex, loss and numbness.
Inspired by the novel of the same name by Bregje Hofstede, Oersoep tells a deeply personal story about motherhood, the body and the ecological crisis. About carrying, giving birth to and caring for new life. About hope, and at the same time the grief for what or who is lost.
A musical experience in which birth and death converge, inspired by the St Matthew Passion. The performance poses the question: what are we willing to sacrifice today in an exhausted world?
Oersoep brings together birth and mourning. A space where we slow down, listen and come together. Here, music brings ritual back to life. An interdisciplinary theatre production with live music by K.O. Brass, creating a contemporary requiem and a celebration in one: a shared moment to grieve, to pause and to welcome life anew.
A Passion for now.
To mourn together.
And to celebrate life together.
Whether this performance has an interval is not yet known.
