A Ticket to Aleppo
In this theatrical concert, musicians from Aleppo, together with the New European Ensemble, bring the rich musical traditions of their city to life. They paint a new soundscape in which the centuries-old city is set in motion; from prayer and coffee houses, ancient voices resound, while cars honk and the air is filled with the scent of coffee, pepper and cinnamon.
A Ticket to Aleppo presents a warm-blooded musical dialogue between Arab and Western traditions and reveals the vitality of the city. In this concert, the sense of rapture and spirituality from Aleppo comes together with Western colour, harmony and form. Instruments such as the oud, qanun and riq are combined with violin, viola, cello and flute.
