To the front in Ukraine
For five years, Ukraine has stood firm against a Russian overpowering force, unbroken by heavy losses, rain of bombs, and the cold. Where do ordinary people find the strength to carry on day after day?
And how does Ukraine manage to reinvent itself as a modern country and leading innovation power despite the violence of war?
In To the front in Ukraine, Tommy Wieringa and Jaap Scholten tell how Ukrainians survive between despair and heroism. Both authors are deeply moved by the country's desire for freedom. With their foundation Protect Ukraine, they have raised nearly 30 million euros and sent fifty aid convoys with off-road vehicles and life-saving supplies to the front.
Through personal stories and compelling images, Wieringa and Scholten illustrate the surrealism of daily life here and the deadly front there – just a day's drive apart.
Ukraine is fighting not only for its own survival but also for ours, in Europe. In the short term, the country desperately needs Europe; in the long term, it is the other way around. After America's betrayal, Europe is left alone, and Ukraine represents a powerful security guarantee for the future. It is now up to us. How can we, as individuals, take action?
To the front in Ukraine is a theater evening full of touching stories and infectious love for freedom that will stay with you.
A portion of the ticket sales goes directly to the front in Ukraine.
