Luyendijk has written on a wide range of subjects, from the Middle East and the financial world to social issues such as populism. In this performance, he turns his attention to giftedness. Calefax frames his stories with music by composers including Bach and Nancarrow, who are known for their complex and refined musical structures.

Calefax itself has been at the forefront of the international music world for decades. What began in 1985 with five school pupils who breathed new life into the reed quintet has grown into a global phenomenon.
