In Resonanties, Hadewych van Gent merges cello and voice into a single, distinctive sound world. At times you hear her voice and cello side by side; at others they seem to dissolve into one another. It is precisely this that makes the programme so special. The jury praised her boldness: singing and playing simultaneously is not a trick for her, but a natural way of telling a story.

Together with her ensemble, Hadewych explores echoes of folk music from different countries. Old melodies resonate within contemporary music, revealing how sounds travel, evolve and acquire new meaning time and again. The result is an intimate concert in which you not only listen to beautiful music, but also to where that music comes from.

With music by Hildegard von Bingen, Rebecca Clarke and Fazıl Say, Hadewych builds a programme that comes close. You hear something old, something new, and above all something personal.

Hadewych van Gent is one of the finalists of Dutch Classical Talent, the leading talent development programme for young musicians in the Netherlands. Previous participants include artists such as Tania Kross, Lavinia Meijer and Nora Fischer.
