‘A matter between God and myself’, the Swiss composer Frank Martin called his Mass for Double Choir. Only after forty years did he release the work for publication, after which it grew into one of the highlights of twentieth-century choral music. The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir guarantees a compelling interpretation of Martin’s masterpiece.

The Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir belongs to the absolute top of the international choral world. The Chamber Choir is often mentioned in the same breath as the work of Arvo Pärt and other Baltic composers. Recently, the ensemble excelled once again in a concert in honour of the ninety-year-old Pärt.

This time, the choir reveals a different side of itself, with jewels from the Western choral repertoire: Frank Martin’s radiant Mass for Double Choir and Luciano Berio’s virtuosic Cries of London. Naturally, Arvo Pärt and his Baltic colleagues are also represented in this programme.
