Dis Order

Archive
In Dis Order, Cat looks back on her childhood. She was a nice, sweet girl who always joined in, even when it didn’t really feel right. That’s just how it had to be, she thought. And she thought that far too often. She calls herself a pleaser. The little voice in her head – which she calls Anna – helped her through awkward moments. Until that voice became nastier. And ultimately destructive.

Dis Order is a gripping psychodrama about eating disorders. Cat Smits based the performance on her own diaries and on scientific research by psychomotor therapist Dr Marlies Rekkers. Writer Christine Otten turned it into a powerful script, and documentary maker Sunny Bergman added compelling documentary footage.

With puppetry, personal stories and confronting imagery, Cat takes you into her inner struggle. Between light and darkness. Between control and letting go. A raw, honest performance that will move you.
