De Belangelozen

Verkoop v.a. 23 May 12:00 uur
Sam is a volunteer bursting with energy and big ideals. He fully commits himself to helping people with financial problems. He works his way through piles of letters, calls one creditor after another, and effortlessly creates budget plans. He seems to have fully embraced the idea of the participation society — and participate he will, until poverty has disappeared from the country.

De Belangelozen is a performance about how more and more people are ending up in poverty. And above all: how do we deal with this? Can Sam help everyone and keep poverty at bay without losing himself? He knows he cannot go under — that would be problematic in a country that relies heavily on volunteers.

With humour and a sharp sense of urgency, De Belangelozen tells a social story. Because poverty is real. It highlights both the beauty of the ecosystem of volunteers and questions its sustainability.

Through Rudolphi Producties and Collectief T&T, the creators of De Belangelozen collaborated with Humanitas. In preparation for the performance, the makers joined the organisation, gaining first‑hand insight into the volunteer perspective.
